Somerset Manor Frequently Asked Questions
Booking
The deposit on booking is a third of the house hire. The balance is due 12 weeks before arrival and the cautionary deposit (see below) 4 weeks before arrival.
Yes, we take credit cards (not Amex), debit cards or bank transfer.
At Somerset Manor this is £1500, due 4 weeks before you arrive. It’s refunded once the house is cleaned after your stay.
The house hire includes everything for your self catering stay. There are no extra charges for cleaning, heating, bedding, towels etc.
We must have a complete list of your party, for safety and insurance reasons. If you don’t have all the details when you book, you can send it to us at a later date (Before your arrival) We don’t use this information for any other purposes.
Similar to travelling outside the UK, we advise this, in case of unforeseen events that might effect your booking. Please ensure you have read our cancellation policy before booking.
We are happy to welcome mature hen and stag groups, but please contact us in advance of booking to discuss your group, age range and plans for your stay.
If you have booked Somerset Manor, then there is the option to add The Stables. This will allow up to 6 additional guests (There is a charge) Please contact us in advance if you would like to add The Stables to your booking.

Somerset Manor doesn’t have a wedding license, but it is available for casual, smaller weddings. The legal ceremony can be held at nearby Taunton registry office. Please call to discuss your requirements and hopefully we will be able to help!
PRE-ARRIVAL
Yes, please. The owner will need to know how you would like the rooms set up, 2 weeks before you arrive is ideal. Many of the beds can be super king or twin.
Most major supermarkets deliver to Somerset Manor. Please arrange delivery for after your arrival, as we don’t have a team member at the house to take it in for you.
You are welcome to bring up to 2 well behaved dogs. Please arrange this before your stay. There is a charge of £15 per dog per night. Dogs are not allowed upstairs, in bedrooms or on furniture and must be supervised while in the garden and cleaned up after.
These beds give lots of versatility. They can be zipped together to form a super king bed or left as twin beds. They are very comfy beds.
We can configure the beds to provide 19 separate beds in total (This includes a day bed and single put up bed)
We can recommend chefs to come and cook for you at the house. Experience has shown us that it’s best for you to arrange it direct. Then you can discuss menu options, dietary requirements and budget with the chef.
If you’d like to find your own chef, that’s fine. Please ensure we have their public liability insurance prior to cooking at the house.
ARRIVING AT SOMERSET MANOR
Generally arrival time is 4pm and departure time on Sunday is 4pm, weekdays 10am. If you have different requirements please get in touch.
A member of the team will meet you at the house when you arrive to show you around and let you know how everything works!
Taunton station is just 3 miles away. It has direct trains to London Paddington (1 hour 40 minutes) and Birmingham and beyond.
Exeter airport is 25 miles, via the M5 southbound. Bristol Airport is 47 miles via the M5 northbound.
WHAT’S AT SOMERSET MANOR
The swimming pool is fenced but not child proof. Children should be supervised outside at all times.
A ‘starter pack’ of the following items, sufficient for two-three days normal use, will be provided:
Liquid Soap, Toilet paper, Dishwasher powder, Washing-up liquid,Bin liners, Foil, Cling film, Rubbish bags Salt, Pepper (grinders only)
Please note – Personal toiletries are not provided.
Yes we do.
White napkins are provided. The table is polished wood, and table mats & coasters are supplied.
Definitely. Previous groups comment on how well supplied the kitchen is for all you need to cook for a large group. Just ask Janice if there is anything specific.
There are 3 x different coffee machines (1 x Nespresso Pods/1 x large Cafetiere/1 x filter ground coffee jug which caters for many cups and keeps the coffee hot in an insulated in a heated jug (it can also be set on timer so coffee for all in the morning!)
The main TV screen and a Denon sound system is in the Library.
BLUETOOTH MUSIC FROM YOUR PHONE: Using the same Denon appliance
PORTABLE JBL BLUETOOTH SPEAKER: – Situated in play/function room with charger, you can move to any room for music but please put back in place you found it!
There are open real fires in the Drawing Room, Dining Room and Library
Wood, kindling & firelighters are provided. We only ask that you do not leave fires unattended
We have two travel cots but do not provide linen for them and would ask you to bring this yourselves.
There are also 2 highchairs.
There is a Charcoal BBQ (coals are not provided) There is also a wood fired pizza oven.
Wood is provided and will be underneath pizza oven. Please feel free to use both facilities.
There is plenty of seating on the terrace for alfresco dining.
You can enjoy playing tennis, croquet, boules & there’s plenty of room for a kick about with a football on the full size pitch!
DURING YOUR STAY
Unfortunately not because of the location of the house and fire safety.
There are also horses stabled very close by.
Yes, if your decorations are free standing. But it’s not possible to attach anything to wall or paintwork as it can pull the paint off. If this occurs, there will be a charge to cover repairs.
Yes, the large wooden dining table can seat everyone.
The WIFI works well and you will be given the code on arrival
Not at the moment, our insurance doesn’t allow it. There are local charging points in Taunton.
Please be considerate after 12pm. Keep windows closed, and noisy activity inside.
No. This is a statutory regulation. The house also has a fire alarm which will be set off.
If you would like to watch a family movie there are several streaming services you can use on the Xbox. You can access further apps if you have certain subscriptions with the streaming services. There is also the Microsoft store where you’re able to download alternative services all on the Xbox interface.
Unfortunately, not. But there are some great pubs just a short drive away. We have a list of pubs we recommend in the area.
DEPARTURE
We ask that you empty the kitchen bins and put out all recycling. Please leave the kitchen surfaces tidy, put the last of your washing up in the dishwasher and leave the house tidy. If you have moved any furniture please would you put it back.
There is no need to strip the beds.
On Sundays it’s up till 4pm and weekdays is 10am.
