Booking
The deposit on booking is a third of the house hire. The balance is due 12 weeks before arrival and the cautionary deposit (see below) 3 weeks before arrival.
Yes, we take credit cards (not Amex), debit cards or bank transfer.
At Tone Dale House this is £1000, due 3 weeks before you arrive. It’s refunded once the house is cleaned after your stay.
We have a £25 booking fee when you book. The house hire includes everything for your self catering stay. There are no extra charges for cleaning, heating, bedding, towels etc.
Similar to travelling outside the UK, we advise this, in case of unforeseen events that might effect your booking. Please ensure you have read our cancellation policy before booking.
We are happy to welcome mature hen and stag groups, but please contact us in advance of booking to discuss your group, age range and plans for your stay.
We can sometimes offer the flexibility of one or two more guests (over the 31 staying). Please contact us in advance to discuss this. There is a small extra.

Tone Dale House doesn’t have a wedding license and isn’t available for large weddings. It is available for small (up to 31), casual, house party style weddings, usually with the ceremony at Taunton registry office. The house is lovely for a cosy wedding.
PRE-ARRIVAL
Yes, please. 2 weeks before you arrive is ideal. Many of the beds can be super king or twin.
All the major supermarkets deliver to Tone Dale House. Please arrange it for after your arrival, as we don’t have a team member at the house to take it in for you.
You are welcome to bring up to 2 well behaved dogs. Please arrange this before your stay. There is a charge of £15 per dog per night. Dogs are not allowed upstairs, or on furniture and must be supervised while in the garden and cleaned up after.
Yes of course! There is an additional charge, but give us a call and we can discuss that with you.
These beds give lots of versatility. They can be zipped together to form a super king bed or left as twin beds. They are very comfy beds.
We can configure the beds to provide 26 separate beds. There is also 1 sofa bed.
We can recommend chefs to come and cook for you at the house. Experience has shown us that it’s best for you to arrange it direct. Then you can discuss menu options, dietary requirements and budget with the chef.
If you’d like to find your own chef, that’s fine. Please ensure we have their public liability insurance prior to cooking at the house.
ARRIVING AT TONE DALE HOUSE
Generally arrival time is 4pm and departure time on Sunday is 4pm, weekdays 10am. If you have different requirements please get in touch.
A few days before your stay, we’ll get in touch and arrange your check-in. We’ll give you the manager’s mobile number for you to keep in touch with on the day of your arrival. When you arrive at the house, the manager will show how all the important things work – like heating, hot tub etc.
Taunton station is 9 miles away. It has direct trains to London Paddington (1 hour 40 minutes) and Birmingham and beyond.
Exeter airport is 25 miles, via the M5 southbound. Bristol Airport is 47 miles via the M5 northbound.
WHAT’S AT THE TONE DALE HOUSE
Yes, there is a wide waterway running along the edge of the garden. It is unfenced and children and dogs need to be supervised in the garden at all times.
A ‘starter pack’ of the following items, sufficient for two-three days normal use, will be provided: –
Liquid Soap, Toilet paper, Dishwasher powder, Washing-up liquid,Bin liners, Foil, Cling film, Rubbish bags Salt, Pepper (grinders only)
Please note – Personal toiletries are not provided.
Yes we do. For each guest there is a bath towel, hand towel, hot tub towel.
Yes. We provide 2 sets of white table linen and napkins.
Definitely. Previous groups comment on how well supplied the kitchen is for all you need to cook for a large group. In advance of your stay we send you a list of what’s in the kitchen.
We have large cafetières. If you are in the mood for a full barista experience, step through the secret door to Brazier cafe, open 7 days a week.
You can plug your phone into the party room system and link to the speakers.
There is a radio in the kitchen and a CD player in the drawing room.
It’s not – we’ve tried, but it’s not possible anymore. It’s just a lovely piece of furniture now.
There are 2 travel cots and 2 high chairs. The travel cots can be set up in advance of your stay, let us know which rooms. Please bring your babies favourite bedding.
Yes. It’s a splendid brick built, double size barbecue, situated on the terrace. Very convenient for the long outdoor dining tables nearby. Please bring your own charcoal and you’ll find the bbq tools in the kitchen.
There are long tables and benches to seat up to 31 guests for dining. Garden chairs are grouped together on the lawns and benches around the garden to enjoy the views.

You can enjoy playing croquet, badminton or bowls. There’s plenty of room for a kick about with a football.
DURING YOUR STAY
Unfortunately not because of the location of the house and fire safety.
Yes, if your decorations are free standing. But it’s not possible to attach anything to wall or paintwork as it can pull the paint off.
Yes absolutely. The red dining room is a wonderful space for a enjoying dinner together and can seat all your group together, up to 31.
The WIFI works well in most areas of the property. The code will be available for you at the house.
Not at the moment, our insurance doesn’t allow it. There are local charging points in the town car park (just a 3 min drive).
No there wouldn’t. If you don’t require the Stables, they remain empty. Our houses are always exclusive hire.
English Heritage are preserving a building adjacent to Tone Dale House with scaffolding. This is shrouded with a printed image of the house. There is no work planned. Please ask for extra information if you like to know more.
Tone Dale House is on the edge of Wellington. There are no near neighbours, but in the dead of night sound can carry. Normal level music in the garden is fine and for loud dance music we have a soundproofed party room – so carry on till the early hours, with the doors closed.
Tone Dale House has an integrated fire alarm system for your safety and is very sensitive to smoke because of this it’s not possible to have a smoke machine.
No. This is a statutory regulation. The house also has a fire alarm which will be set off.
Yes, from the screen in the party room, snuggle up on sofas and have a movie night.
There are pubs in Wellington, which is a 10 minute walk away. Or across fields and lanes, about an hour to The Martlett in the village of Langford Budville
DEPARTURE
We ask that you empty the kitchen bins and put out all recycling. Please leave the kitchen surfaces tidy, put the last of your washing up in the dishwasher and leave the house tidy. If you have moved any furniture please would you put it back.
There is no need to strip the beds.
On Sundays it’s up till 4pm and weekdays is 10am.
